Executive Board Opportunities

Join the Board!

Are you interested in learning more about an executive board position? We would love to chat with you! Click “Contacts” in the website header for emails and names of current board members. All positions, aside from the Student Member-at-Large must be an employed Certified Child Life Specialist.

Annual elections take place in the third quarter of each year. As an executive board member, you will: 

  • Help create educational and networking opportunities for GLACLP members 
  • Take part in monthly executive board meetings and help plan GLACLP events
  • Obtain professional development experience
  • Receive free membership and access to GLACLP educational opportunities 

Executive board positions up for Summer/Fall 2025 election cycle:

President-Elect: 3-year term (2026: President-Elect, 2027: President, 2028: Past President).

  • Perform any duties as assigned by the President
  • Assist the President in all duties
  • Assume duties of President in their absence
  • Complete the Presidential term in the event of a vacancy
  • Assist with development and achievement of yearly goals for the executive board and membership
  • Open elections, collect nominations, and tally votes
  • Serve on the Conference Planning Committee
  • Participate in GLACLP sponsored events

Secretary: 1-year term, with option of re-election (2026)

  • Record meeting minutes for executive board meetings and membership meetings
  • Create and distribute the monthly GLACLP membership newsletter
  • Distribute bi-annual directory to members

Traditional Child Life Specialist Member-at-Large: 1-year term, with option for re-election (2026)

  • Serve as the organizer of the GLACLP Mentorship Program
  • Serve on the Conference Planning Committee
  • Serve as the Conference Student Track Subcommittee Co-Chair with Educator Member-at-Large
  • Communicate child life specialist member needs when planning educational and networking events
  • Organize the Sunshine Surprise program
  • Maintain and update hospital contact on GLACLP site

Student Member-at-Large: 1-year term, with option for re-election (2026)

  • Serve as the student/aspiring member liaison
  • Create, post and maintain all GLACLP social media accounts
  • Serve on the Conference Planning Committee
  • Serve on the Conference Student Track Subcommittee with the Educator Member-at-Large and CCLS Member-at-Large
  • Assist CCLS Member-at-Large with GLACLP Mentorship Program

Treasurer: 2-year term, with option for re-election for additional term (2026-2027)

  • Manage all GLACLP financial accounts
  • Create and maintain budget for each calendar year with Presidents
  • Report all finances to GLACLP Executive Board at each monthly meeting
  • File annual taxes
  • Manage all membership payments and reminders
  • Manage all revenue for educational opportunities, events, and donations
  • Pay all scholarship recipients

Child Life Assistant Member-at-Large: 2-year term, with option for re-election for additional term (2026-2027)

  • Must be actively employed as a child life assistant
  • Serve on the Conference Planning Committee and provide valuable input about educational needs of the child life assistant community
  • Implement child life assistant session(s) at the GLACLP Annual Conference
  • Maintain and increase contact database for child life assistants and/or programs in the region and beyond
